A 1942 Warner Bros. romantic drama directed by Michael Curtiz and set in Vichy-controlled Casablanca during the Second World War, built around Humphrey Bogart's expatriate nightclub owner and Ingrid Bergman's return to his life. Roger Ebert called it one of the rare films earning an upper-case M for Movie, the Writers Guild of America has voted its screenplay the best ever written, and the American Film Institute ranks it among American cinema's greatest achievements.
