The American publishing company founded by Henry Luce and Briton Hadden to launch Time magazine on March 3, 1923, in New York City, the first weekly news magazine in the United States. Time Inc. went on to publish Fortune (1930), Life (1936) and, later, Sports Illustrated (1954), becoming one of the twentieth century's most influential magazine publishers.
