An American comic book publisher founded in 1935 by Major Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson as National Allied Publications, the company that published Action Comics #1 in 1938, introducing Superman and, by most accounts, the superhero genre itself. It later took its present name from Detective Comics, one of its founding titles, and is now headquartered at 4000 Warner Boulevard, Burbank, California.
