United States legislation, signed by President Calvin Coolidge on 23 February 1927, that asserted federal authority over radio broadcasting and required stations to serve the public interest, convenience and necessity to hold a license. It created the Federal Radio Commission to administer the new licensing regime after the courts had gutted the government's authority under the earlier 1912 Radio Act.
