French inventors and manufacturers, Auguste (1862 to 1954) and Louis (1864 to 1948), who built the Cinematographe, a combined camera, printer and projector, and held the first paid public film screening at the Salon Indien du Grand Cafe in Paris on 28 December 1895. Their short actualities, workers leaving their factory, a train arriving at a station, are the founding documents of cinema.
